Urban Greenspace Engine

Ann Arbor, MI

Fall 2023

DESCRIPTIONThe 2023 Future of Real Estate Competition, hosted by the Weiser Center for Real Estate at the Ross School of Business, challenged students to develop an innovative new company in the PropTech field.

Aakash Narayan and I created the Urban Greenspace Engine, or URGE, a brand new subscription based software that uses generative design (in the vain of Delve and TestFit) to help city planners equitably develop and maximize value of parks and green spaces in urban environments.

The URGE software allows city planners to put together their ideal park and see real time cost and impact changes. Our proprietary generative software then provides them with possible alternative locations for their park as well as ammenity change recommendations based on the updated location and installation and maintenance costs. URGE then provides information on individuals/developers in the surrounding area that may benefit from providing funding support to the new park.

URGE also allows citizens to view existing parks in their city to create dialogue on the need for more access to greenspaces.
